Swinging for a Cause: Kids’ Chance of Massachusetts Hosts 4th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
On July 22, 2024, the 4th annual Kids’ Chance of Massachusetts Charity Golf Tournament took place, uniting workers’ compensation professionals, community members, golf enthusiasts, volunteers, sponsors and donors, for a day dedicated to supporting educational opportunities for children of a parent who was catastrophically or fatally injured in a work-related accident. Held at the Indian Ridge Country Club, in Andover Massachusetts, this year’s event was not just about perfecting swings and sinking putts, but about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people across the state.
Kids’ Chance of Massachusetts, a nonprofit organization committed to providing scholarships to children of workers who have been catastrophically injured or killed on the job, has grown by leaps and bounds in the last 4 years. The annual charity golf tournament has become a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts, blending the enjoyment of a well-organized event with the vital goal of raising funds and awareness for our mission.
This year’s event welcomed a near-record number of 144 golfers, from seasoned experts to enthusiastic novices, all eager to contribute to a meaningful cause. The day began with a send-off from our golf committee chair Lou Porrazzo and Jim Ramsey, Board Member and fundraising chair. It was a beautiful sunny day, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement and camaraderie as teams prepared for the 18-hole scramble, each player driven by the dual purpose of golfing excellence and charitable impact.
A highlight was having Kids’ Chance of Massachusetts’ Mom, Amber Moody, in attendance. Big thanks to Amber who volunteered and greeted golfers. Her children and scholarship recipients, Kevin and Andrew, not only golfed but gave memorable and touching speeches at the dinner reception.
We couldn’t have held this event without our golfers, sponsors, donors and volunteers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
For those who missed this year’s golf event but wish to support our mission, donations and sponsorship opportunities are always available on the Kids’ Chance of Massachusetts website. With continued support, we aim to expand our reach and provide even more children who’ve been affected by tragedy with the chance to achieve their educational dreams. We hope to see you next year!
